Staying connected this end of year
Dear Language Hub whānau,
With this last post of the year, we’d like to reconnect with you one last time before the year is out. So let’s review some great things of these past 12 months. Then we’ll inform you of some exciting news for 2023. And we’ll end by wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
A way to keep us connected
On our end, we have found 2022 a year of learning and evolving. We hope you have had a similar experience and that you are headed toward 2023 with more thirst for knowledge. For us, next year will be one of trying new ways of connecting with you with as many in-person events as possible.
A really fun thing we’ve been using as a way of reinforcing language learning with in-person connection has been our workshops. You might have heard or seen that in the past months we’ve had a couple of Chinese and Japanese workshops. Both of them were an absolute success. The idea is to give you a chance to practice your target language in a different environment outside of your online lessons.
Although at this stage our lessons will stay in the online classrooms we want to recognise the importance of physical connection and the role that this plays in your learning journey. For this, you can expect more workshops to happen next year. So keep an eye out for when we have one in your target language. We also encourage you to give us suggestions for what languages you think should be represented in the following events. Having enough inquiries in one language will definitely help guide us on which one to do next.
These workshops will be full of games, laughter, and of course, language learning. But only the kind that matters to us here at Language Hub, the fun kind of learning.
Making sure we are on the same page
Another wonderful method of connection that we started exploring this year has been these blog posts. We understand that when most interactions happen digitally sometimes it is hard keeping a sense of interrelation. However, it is important that everyone in our whānau has all the information about what’s going on with us. We’d also like you to have a solid idea of our identity as a school. For that not only will we continue to do these monthly posts but we would love to hear your opinion about them. Feel free to give us your feedback and let us know if there’s any topic you’d like for us to explore on these pages.
The biggest news for 2023
And now for the piece de resistance!
It is very important to state again that at this stage all of our current classes will stay online, but we are exploring what it might look like to have a set number of in-classroom lessons under this new set of circumstances (our lack of premises). The first attempt will be a complete beginner’s in-person Japanese class. We will take this as an opportunity to see how we handle this and we will take it from there. If you know anyone who is interested in starting their Japanese learning do send them our way! In the meantime, we hope you are as excited as we are for what’s to come.
